The world is a stage

When being checked or told off , however gentle one does it, the reaction one gets will always be the same .
If it is A, he will accept/agree and go all apologetic ; shows remorse and promises to change or not to repeat.
If B, he will look at you in disbelieve and pause, swallowing all your comments and suggestions and starts being in the defensive
If C, he screams, shouts , just don't listen, keeps repeating his why when who what how and then condemns himself and use that as his shield for what he sees as an attack on him (his low self esteem actually) , far away from the main point
but if D, not only does he screams shouts about not being appreciated respected but starts listing all YOUR faults.
Thank you ALLAH for HELPing ME to be strong and to move on .

In the new car!

Wuuuh! Its been sometime since I last wrote. Granmas getting a little weary...?Oh no! Tired coz of the weather and not the age InsyaAllah!

Sometime back when I bought my MYvi my grandchildren decided to take a ride in their granmas new car.Halfway down the road they felt hungry.I stopped to buy some tit-bits. However they looked at me in shock and disbelieve when I stopped them from opening the wrappers until we reached home. They sat quietly at the backseat devouring the wrapper and its contents with their eyes. The journey back was extra quiet and kind of added the mileage.I strictly tell myself not to give in and that they need to know that travelling in granmas new car means just that! No munching! No eating! Therefore no crumbs!

It was an unusual ride. Not only was there no crumbs, there was also no laughter, no joy, no teasing, no singing and no fun.

Today, we had another 'New Car' ride. History repeats itself yet differently. Everyone was hungry. Auntie , whose new car it was stopped to get tit-bits and everyone ate happily, tucking-in, in the new car. There was laughter. there was joy, singing and eating and there were crumbs..... But who cares! they are just crumbs!

Today Thursday 28th May was report card day which my centre termed 'Open Day'.Generally, almost all parents ,I say almost because one family had gone home to India ahead of holiday time, one mother had to be in her school as it was report card day too and father was out-station, another father had to pickup mother (outstation))were reasonably agreeable to all comments made regarding the special students;their strengths and weaknesses, their independence and capabilities and steps to take during the holidays so as there is continuity.Praise be to Allah for when parents are positive in accepting teachers' suggestions and vice-versa who is to gain? The student of course! It was another beautiful day at CEC.

This reminds me of.... way back in the 90s when I headed a school and it was end of year report card day. It was one of the national schools in town.An elite school it was! Father was not happy child had been placed in the 2nd class.Insisted his grades was what it was because he had the wrong company.Unfortunately 'the wrong company' had a wee bit better grades then the child concerned. And there were eight others who did better then both of them.

Which means that if I agreed to move him to the 1st class I had to fairly move to the 1st class 10 students and that would make 40 students.

I turned around and told the child..You need to work smarter next year so that you can be in the first class. Now ..promise your father that!

Just three months short of a year I retired.I heard that his grades never change.....but his class? His father went home smiling.

Communication

Today, wise parents of a student answered our invitation. They came with an open heart. Teacher, parents and I sat and listened to one another. There was a lot of listening, explaining, understanding, accepting, agreeing and swallowing. Thoughtful thinking.reminiscing and nodding.
It was a beautiful situation. The meet cleared up the mist. And to whose advantage? Alhamdulillah THE STUDENT, then the parents and of course the teachers.

If only all parents are cool, calm and willing to hear.

Unfortunately, over the years, I have seen parents jumping up and down excitedly , swinging their arms in fits of anger, screaming their hearts out and pointing fingers only to realise their folly at the end of a session.

These egoistic bad mouth species most times do not even know what class their child is in, who the teacher is nor who, what, when, and why he is upset.

But this morning was a beautiful morning. Thank you parents. May your son do well in life.

Breaking Promises

Hate it when people break their promises! Twist their promises!I am really angry and upset. Spoils my day. Never promise if you cannot keep them. Should have checked and made sure. and made certain. Should have not taken things for granted.I would not promise if I don't intend to keep it. That was why I was so sure. Coz I don't make promises and break them!

The MOOD of the week.

Lots of reports had to be completed.Everyone was busily working on the computer between classes. It was a healthy atmosphere.Having to complete work on time....having a deadline seems to make people work seriously. When there is no deadline, humans tend to take things for granted and tag along or are slip- short in their performance.
It is so true.
Humans need to have goals.
They need to have a time frame to achieve their goals
They need to be monitored.
However hard working they are. if there is no time frame, no monitoring, no check and balance. no comments.no praise, hard working humans will turn lazy, careless and lose focus.

AAAAAAAaaaaaaagh! We are humans after all!

AGM kumpulan Marhaban n Yasiin

Hmm! The meeting turned out well after all, Alhamdulillah. The heavy rain did not hamper the spirit of members. All turned up in full force and the meeting went well. Participation was also good. Except for one bitchy lady trying to show off and started to comment on personal stuff ,the meeting was fairly smooth. And all the hype about boycotting didn't take place. Again Alhamdulillah.

Time flies or can it be flys

MasyaAllah! Its been almost a year since I started the page. And all this while I thought its been just a time ago that I'd started the blog.Kept postponing. Procrastinate is the word. It'll get me nowhere. No good! Must make a point to write at least once a week and then increase. I promise myself today, tonight that I will write. and write I will.
There is so much I'd like to write about. Each time I relate the experiences I went through , people say "Why don't you write a book Cikgu and share it out" and I'd say ' That's what I meant to do when I retire but I have not got down to it yet.' Well I didn't anticipate working after retirement. Come to think of it I didn't retire at all. Retired from the government..yes laaa! But stop working?...No Laaaa. Had three months grace cos birthday was in September. Started again January following year. And its into the tenth year now. TENTH YEAR!!!
When I retired from the govt I was head of a govt school. Since then I have and still am head of a special school belonging to a non-profit-making NGO. And the things I learnt from the former schools and the present school!
Aaagh! Its late. I had a long day today attending a leadership course. And will be having another long day tomorrow. Better go to bed. You're not that young anymore. You need a good sleep.
Hi there's something wrong about the time stated in the blog. Its actually 12am 'DONG! DONG! DONG! Cinderella would have dropped her slippers by now! and the page records a queer ridiculous time, far from the truth! Must get my son to check the PC.
